West Columbia Residents Should Take Note of Holiday Updates!
Hey there, West Columbia! As we roll into the festive season, it’s time to gear up for some important updates regarding City Hall hours, sanitation schedules, and those dazzling fireworks displays coming our way. Let’s dive right into the details, shall we?
City Hall Closures for the Holidays
Mark your calendars, folks! City Hall will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, December 25–26, 2024, for Christmas festivities. We know this is a busy time when many are getting ready to celebrate with family and friends. So, if you need to take care of any city business, make sure you do it before then! Regular business hours will pick back up on Friday, December 27, 2024.
Feeling the holiday cheer already? Well, there’s more! City Hall will also take a breather on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025. You can head back there for your city needs starting on Thursday, January 2. Pretty straightforward, right?
Sanitation Schedule Adjustments
In case you’re dreaming of a clean and tidy home post-holiday feasting, here’s what you need to know about the sanitation schedule! On Christmas Day, Thursday sanitation routes will *not* be run as usual. Instead, they will be collected on Friday, December 27, 2024. That’s right, just a small shift to keep things running smoothly!
While we’re on the topic of sanitation, make sure to note that there will be no yard trash collection on Friday, December 27, 2024, and also on New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2025). So now’s the time to get those last-minute yard clean-ups done before the holidays hit!

Fireworks Safety Reminder
9:00 a.m. on December 31 until 1:30 a.m. on January 1. Let’s ensure a fun celebration that’s also safe for everyone.
We want to keep the cheer and safety at the forefront, so be mindful of your surroundings while celebrating the New Year. It’s always best to double-check with your neighbors and keep an eye out for any local fireworks regulations!
