Hello, Columbia! Get ready for a lovely weekend because the weather is shaping up to be just delightful. If you’ve been waiting to enjoy some sunny days, you’re in luck! The forecast is showing temperatures climbing into the 80s over the next couple of days, making it perfect for outdoor activities.
We kicked off the weekend with beautiful bright skies and the kind of sunshine that makes you want to be outside. The temperatures were just right, reaching into the upper 70s, which felt just awesome. If you stepped outside, you probably soaked in that lovely warmth. But hang on, as night fell, temperatures took a quick dip, cooling off to the mid to upper 40s in the Midlands. Fingers crossed you bundled up!
As we look ahead to Sunday, expect that warming trend to continue. A nice high-pressure system is sliding off toward the east, which means our winds will bring in some lovely warm air from the southwest. This means you can anticipate highs climbing to the low to mid 80s throughout the day. Isn’t that fantastic?
It’s also a perfect day to head out to the South Carolina State Fair! With sunny skies and low humidity, it’s going to be a feast for the senses. Grab your family and friends and head out to enjoy the rides, the food, and all the excitement. Just remember, sunscreen is your best friend when spending such a sunny day outdoors!
But wait, there’s more! Monday continues this streak of sunshine with mostly sunny skies reigning over Columbia. It’s another warm day ahead with highs stretching into the low to mid-80s. It sounds like the perfect chance to do something fun outside, maybe a stroll in one of our beautiful parks or catching some fresh air.
Speaking of chill, the cooler temperatures will stick around for the rest of the week. The forecasted highs will now fall into the 60s and lower 70s from Tuesday through Friday. As for the mornings? Expect lows in the lower 40s, with some rural areas maybe even seeing temperatures dip into the upper 30s. So, if you’re an early riser, don’t forget to grab that cozy jacket!
One more thing to consider is the lack of rain we’ve been experiencing. It has now been a stunning 15 days since we’ve had any rainfall. Looking ahead, the forecast is not tracking any rain chances over the next 10 days. So, it seems we might be headed for a very dry October.
To sum it all up, expect clear and cool conditions tonight, with those comfy mid 40s. Sunday will bring back the sunshine and warm temps in the mid 80s. Monday stays warm but will lead to a noticeable cool-down starting Tuesday. The remainder of the week will be cooler with temperatures in the 60s and those chilly mornings. So, enjoy the warm days while they last, Columbia!
