Columbia’s Uptown District to Celebrate with a Festive Holiday Hop!
If you’re in Columbia, mark your calendars for an exciting new holiday event coming your way! The Uptown Holiday Hop is set to take place on Saturday, December 7th, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. This inaugural celebration is hosted by the newly formed Uptown Columbia Business Association, and it promises to be a cheerful kickoff to the holiday season!
A Gathering of Community Spirit
Carol Isherwood, co-owner of Gardener’s Outpost and a board member of the Uptown Columbia Business Association, expressed her excitement about the event. “This event is the official kickoff of the Uptown Columbia Business Association, and we are so proud to be able to bring local artisans, musicians, and businesses together to celebrate the holidays with our neighbors and the greater Columbia community,” she declared. It’s all about unity and fun!
But what can you expect at this delightful event? Plenty of activities are lined up to fill the evening with local flavor and joy. For starters, get ready for a mouth-watering oyster roast and pig picking at The War Mouth. And if you’re feeling crafty, you can join in on Kokedama wrapping at Gardener’s Outpost. Make sure to check out the various holiday market vendors who’ll showcase their unique products that might just make perfect gifts for your loved ones.
In-store Specials and Live Music
Bursting with creativity, local shops like Vino Garage at 2501 Main St. and Indah Coffee at 2238 Sumter St. will host a range of in-store specials. So while browsing for your holiday goodies, why not treat yourself to something special?
Of course, it wouldn’t be a holiday celebration without music! Enjoy wonderful live performances throughout the district, including the highly anticipated 3rd Annual Sitar Christmas at Curiosity Coffee Bar and a soothing Charlie Brown Christmas jazz tribute at Gardener’s Outpost. So bring your friends, family, and a dance-loving spirit!
Fundraising for Future Events
Not only is the Uptown Holiday Hop a way to kick off the holiday season, but it’s also the starting point for the Uptown Columbia Business Association’s fundraising efforts. Proceeds will go toward supporting future community events, like the Rock 4 Plants Festival scheduled for March. A little bit of fun now will lead to even more great events later!
For those interested in being part of the festivities as a vendor, there’s still time to get involved! More information about participating in the inaugural Uptown Holiday Hop can be found on the business association’s website. It’s a great opportunity to showcase your local creations and connect with the community.
Enjoy the Beautiful Columbia Weather!
And while you’re gearing up for the holiday hop, be sure to enjoy Columbia’s beautiful weather this weekend. Expect some clouds in the morning, but don’t worry, those will fade away to reveal mainly sunny skies in the afternoon. With a high reaching around 67°F, it’s the perfect setting to feast, shop, and enjoy the company of your friends and neighbors. The evening is forecast to be clear with a low of 42°F, so dress warmly for an evening of merriment!
So grab your loved ones and get ready to hop around Uptown Columbia for a festive evening brimming with holiday cheer. We can’t wait to see you there!
