Columbia, get ready for some exciting news! A beloved local business has made a big move, and it’s sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face. Uptown Gifts, a treasure trove of unique products and gifts, has officially opened its doors in the vibrant Five Points business district. This charming shop, previously a Main Street staple for 16 long years, is now settled at its new address: 745 Saluda Avenue.
The grand re-opening ceremony was a delightful affair attended by community members and local leaders. Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann, owner Michelle Cormier, Executive Director of the Five Points Association Heather McDonald, and Senior Project Manager for Columbia Economic Development Gregory Williams gathered to share their well wishes and cut the ribbon in a ceremony that truly celebrated the heart of the local business community.
“The City of Columbia uses Uptown Gifts quite a bit for gifts for our guests that come to this community,” Mayor Rickenmann remarked during the celebration. “This store adds and complements our Five Points village, and we are so excited for Michelle and her re-opening.” It’s clear that there’s great enthusiasm for Uptown Gifts’ new home!
If you haven’t visited Uptown Gifts yet, you’re in for a treat! The shop offers a wide variety of gifts suitable for people of all ages. Whether you’re searching for South Carolina-made food products, items that showcase your university or state pride, or unique merchandise for special occasions, Uptown Gifts has you covered. Owner Michelle Cormier expressed her excitement about joining the Five Points community. “I am extremely excited to be a part of Five Points and the community here,” she said. “Everybody has been so welcoming to us, and it just feels like home.” It’s heartwarming to see how much local support means to entrepreneurs like Michelle!
Speaking of warm welcomes, it looks like the weather is cooperating beautifully today. This morning started off with a lovely mix of clouds and sun, perfect for a stroll around the new neighborhood. However, don’t forget to bring a light jacket as the day progresses! The forecast indicates that cloudy skies will roll in by this afternoon, with a high of around 75°F. Winds will be blowing from the northeast at a gentle 5 to 10 mph, making it a pleasant day to explore.
As evening approaches, it will cool down to a lovely low of 58°F, so you might want to grab a cozy sweater if you plan to head out.
