Tragic Accident Near Columbia Claims One Life

Columbia, SC – A tragic incident near Columbia on Sunday night has left one person dead and two others injured following a serious traffic collision on McCords Ferry Road. This unfortunate event has prompted local authorities to ask for caution as the investigation unfolds.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred just before 7:30 p.m. when a 2021 Toyota pickup truck, heading northbound, collided with a 2003 Ford pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. The impact was significant, leading the Ford to veer off the left side of the road, smashing into an embankment.

What Happened

As details of the crash emerged, it was confirmed that the driver of the Ford pickup was the only person inside when tragedy struck. Sadly, this driver did not survive the accident and was declared dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is still being withheld as authorities work to notify family members.

The occupants of the Toyota pickup, a driver and a passenger, were lucky enough to escape with injuries and were quickly transported to Prisma Health Richland for treatment. Their current condition remains unclear, but we sincerely hope for a full recovery for both.
