Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo Storms Into Columbia’s Colonial Life Arena

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo, a renowned name in the world of western sports, has made its way to the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. The much-anticipated event promises an exciting lineup of competition and entertainment for families and fans alike.

Bareback Riding: A Blend of Technique and Endurance

Bareback Riding presents a thrilling spectacle of skill and endurance. Riders must hold on to a “suitcase-like handle” with only one hand while staying mounted on the horse for 8-seconds. The real challenge? They cannot touch the horse or themselves with their free-arm, and their spurs must touch the horse on every jump, except for the first one.

Saddle Bronc Riding: Matching Movements for Majestic Performance

In the Saddle Bronc Riding event, the horse’s movements and the rider’s control must be perfectly synchronized. Riders rely on a reign connected to the horse’s halter, with the stern rule that no part of the rider’s body or the horse can be touched by his free hand during the ride.

Barrel Racing: Speed and Precision in Motion

Barrel Racing adds an adrenaline-filled chase to the mix. The fastest horse to run a clover pattern around three barrels wins. But beware – a knocked-over barrel adds a 5-second penalty to the time.

Bull Riding: The Most Dangerous 8-Seconds in Sports

If you thought the previous events were challenging, wait until you see Bull Riding. Termed as “the most dangerous 8-seconds in sports”, bull riding opens up a possibility of one-hundred points, divided equally between the cowboy’s riding skill and
the bull’s performance. For the brave ones stepping into the ring, touching the bull with the free hand could cost them the entire round. Luckily, bull fighters are always present to lend a helping hand if things go awry.

Entertainment Acts: From Clowns to Hollywood Stunt Doubles

As for the entertainment lineup, the audience is in for a treat. Rodeo clowns and a Hollywood stunt double are among the acts that will be taking center stage. One notable performer is Cody Sosebee, a former bareback riding champion turned rodeo clown. He was nominated multiple times for PRCA Clown of the Year and PRCA Comedy Act of the Year.

Trick roper Loop Rawlings will also be making an appearance. His skills extend beyond roping to include whip cracking and gun spinning. Rawlings has previously featured in Cirque Du Soleil’s show ‘Viva Elvis’ in Las Vegas and on the popular television show ‘America’s Got Talent’.

You can catch the rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights. Feel more informed, prepared, and adjunct with the thrill by grabbing your ticket here.
