COLUMBIA: The Toasty Hot Spot Finds a New Home!
Exciting news for food lovers in Columbia! The beloved brunch spot, The Toasty Hot Spot, has officially cut the ribbon on its new location right in the vibrant Five Points district. After facing the tough decision to leave their cozy downtown building due to looming changes, owner Sai Williams and her enthusiastic team are ready to serve up delicious brunch delights once again!
Change is in the Air
For those who aren’t aware, The Toasty Hot Spot had been a staple in Columbia’s dining scene for over three years. Enjoying a loyal following for its unique brunch offerings and soulful specials, the restaurant has become renowned for mouthwatering dishes, including savory oxtail birria tacos and loaded Gullah grits bowls that have everyone raving.
The big move came when Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union decided to build a brand-new headquarters, which meant that Sai and her team had to vacate the premises at 1305 Lady St. But don’t worry, they’ve found a new home over at 2002 Greene St., which used to be the site of Pita Pit. Sai didn’t let the unexpected relocation dampen her spirit. “It wasn’t our intention to relocate … but the owner, I’m assuming, didn’t want my business there,” she explained. With determination, she drove around town searching for a new location, and luckily, this spot came to the rescue!
Welcome Home, Toasty Hot Spot!
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 4th was a heartwarming affair, with the city’s top officials singing the praises of Williams and her tenacity. Mayor Daniel Rickenmann commended her efforts, saying, “They gave her three months’ notice to find a new location, and she did all this. This is amazing, and this is what Columbia is about!” It was definitely a moment of pride and celebration as family and friends gathered to support Williams on this exciting new chapter.
A Fresh Start
The new Toasty Hot Spot boasts a spacious 1,400 square feet layout, allowing patrons to enjoy indoor dining for the first time, with delightful new additions like mimosas on the drink menu. “We’re going to offer everything that we already offer, but we can just give way more quality service,” said Williams enthusiastically. Sounds like a brunch lover’s dream come true!
