Three Individuals Arrested in SNAP Fraud Cases

In a recent development, three individuals have been arrested for fraudulently receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The arrests were conducted by Special Agents from the South Carolina Department of Social Services and the Office of the Inspector General.

Details of the Fraud Cases

The three persons in question have been identified as Sasha Michelle Price, Robyn Davis, and Erin Barber.

Sasha Michelle Price, a 36-year-old resident of Dillon County, has been charged with one count of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps, with a value amounting to over $10,000. She reportedly received $10,217.10 in benefits fraudulently. Following the arrest, Price was booked in Dillon County Detention Center. She will be prosecuted by the Fourth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. According to the investigation, Price had falsely reported on her SNAP application forms that her biological son was part of the household, even though he was not in her legal or physical custody.

Robyn Davis, who is 45 and hails from Horry County, was charged with one count of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps, amounting to more than $10,000. Additionally, she was charged with forgery valued at less than $10,000. Davis is reported to have fraudulently received SNAP benefits worth $15,816. Davis was subsequently booked in Horry County Detention Center, and her case will be handled by the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office. Upon investigation, it was found that Davis had submitted seven fraudulent SNAP application forms. She had also included false pay stubs from “Century 21 Real Estate,” showing her paycheck as $2,310 for each payment. Further inquiry revealed that Davis received additional commission payments from Century 21 Real Estate during the claim period.

Erin Barber, 48, from Greenwood County, is the third individual charged. Barber was charged with one count of fraudulent acquisition, or use of food stamps, higher than $10,000. She allegedly received $21,445 in benefits fraudulently. Barber has been booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center, and she will be prosecuted by the Eighth Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office.

As these cases move through the court system, it serves as a reminder of the vigilance and timely actions taken by the Government bodies to curb fraud and protect the integrity of public assistance programs such as SNAP.
