If you’re in Columbia, you’re in for a holiday treat this weekend! With sunny skies and a high of 47°F on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to gather with family and friends and soak up that festive spirit before Christmas arrives!
But what’s even more exciting? It’s the highly-anticipated Taylor Boys Christmas Extravaganza, now in its 19th year! This annual concert isn’t just about great music; it’s also about giving back. This year’s concert is supporting Toby’s Place, part of the Oliver Gospel Mission, which has brought in over $38,000 to help women and children in need right here in our community.
Located in Columbia, Toby’s Place offers essential support for single women and mothers facing poverty or homelessness. According to Nicholas Charalambous, the Donor Relations Officer at Oliver Gospel Mission, “We rely heavily on the generosity of our community to provide support for the women and children at Toby’s Place, and Taylor Boys Christmas Extravaganza is a key source of that support.” He’s absolutely right!
Last year, Toby’s Place supported over 80 women and 100 children with shelter and transitional programming. Providing nearly 13,000 program nights of shelter, they also offered meals, spiritual enrichment, life-skill courses, and case management services. It’s heartwarming to see how our community bands together to uplift those who need it most.
This weekend’s concert will feature some amazing talents, including the beloved Taylor family. We’re talking about Grammy-nominated Joe Taylor, his brother, local real estate dynamo and singing superstar Steve Taylor, and Steve’s son, Stephen Taylor. They’ll be joined by a host of local favorites like Drew Dixon, Eddie Speaker, Deb Varn, and Moonpie. It’s going to be an epic night of holiday cheer and music that you won’t want to miss!
The beauty of the Taylor Boys Christmas Extravaganza isn’t just in the music but in how you can take part! Tickets are still available for purchase, and you can even be a part of the action by opting for a sponsorship package. Interested in making a bigger impact? Here’s how you can help:
It’s a win-win! You can groove to delightful holiday tunes while supporting an incredible cause. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster or at The Senate box office. Plus, more information on Oliver Gospel Mission and Toby’s Place can be found on their website.
