Art and Culture in the City

The art community in Columbia is flourishing with numerous exciting events. Alexandra’s Art Studio is offering a variety of classes for adults and children, as well as hosting art class groups. The Columbia SC Visitors Center has teamed up with One Columbia for Arts and Culture to present artist popups over weekends until July 28.

Additionally, Shandon United Methodist Church will display a collection of oil paintings by Ashley (Stone) Ozmint from June 3 to August 30.

Awareness and Charity in the City

The City of Columbia Office of Violent Crime Prevention will observe National Gun Violence Awareness Month with a Garden Rededication at Pacific Park on June 20. Several churches are also organizing noteworthy events such as Vacation Bible Schools, Consecration & Convocation Services, and a Flag Retirement Ceremony and Picnic.

Sports and Outdoor Activities

Those looking for an adrenaline rush have plenty to choose from. Greenview Park, Martin Luther King Jr. Park (for Sports Camps), Woodland Park, Hyatt Park, Heathwood Park, and Sims Park are set to host weekly summer camps for children ages five to 12 from June 10 to August 2.

A classical piano concert featuring Pianist Matthew Ganong will entertain music lovers this summer. The Nick will also be hosting the Kids Summer Movies series starting June 11.

Veteran Support

ESNTL Headshots, a local photography studio, is offering free professional headshots to support veterans transitioning to civilian life, in cooperation with Portraits for Portraits.

A Feast of Fundraisers
