Steel Hands Brewing to Open New Location in Columbia, Introducing Small-Batch Spirits and a Vibrant Dining Experience

COLUMBIA: Exciting Changes Ahead with Steel Hands Brewing!

Columbia locals, get ready to welcome a fresh twist to your favorite hangout! Steel Hands Brewing is set to launch a brand new location at 705 Gervais St., right in the heart of the Vista area. This new spot comes after the brewery’s expansion into North Carolina just two years ago, making this the second Steel Hands in Columbia and the third overall. If you’re a fan of craft beer, you’re in for a real treat!

What’s Brewing?

So, what’s the buzz about this new location? Well, it’s not just about beer anymore! Steel Hands is stepping up its game by introducing small-batch spirits, which means you can expect a delightful new range of options, including vodka and gin. Ashley Lambert, the brewery’s marketing director, shares the excitement: “We’re thrilled to unveil this new concept to our Steel Hands fans. Venturing into spirits has long been a dream for our team, and this allows us to expand our portfolio of products.”

A Taste of the New Venue

Located in a spacious 5,000 square-foot building that previously housed Twisted Spur Brewing, the new Steel Hands will feature a snazzy restaurant and bar area designed to seat around 160 people. Picture this: a vibrant atmosphere where you can sip on a craft cocktail or enjoy a lovely meal with friends and family! While a specific opening date hasn’t been revealed just yet, anticipation is already brewing.

Industry Changes and Community Impact

While Steel Hands ushers in this exciting new chapter, it’s worth noting that the Columbia brewery scene has been through some shifts recently. With closures of beloved spots like River Rat Brewing—one of the city’s original breweries—community members may have felt a tinge of sadness. River Rat closed down last December, after a solid decade of serving up good times, following a string of similar departures.

But fear not! Steel Hands has proven to be resilient and adaptive, successfully reaching a wider audience. Since they opened in Cayce in late 2018, their regional presence has expanded, with a taproom now operational in Greensboro, N.C. near the UNC Greensboro basketball stadium. The flagship location is known for its massive taproom and lively outdoor space, where live music often fills the air.

What’s Cooking Beyond Beer?

The new Steel Hands isn’t just about drinks; it’s a place for food lovers too! With their menu expected to include a range of offerings, you can grab a bite after settling in for a craft beer or a quirky cocktail. If you’re eager to unwind after a hectic day or kick off a weekend adventure, this new spot promises to become a staple of community life.

Excitement on the Horizon!

As Columbia prepares for the arrival of Steel Hands Brewing, there’s a palpable sense of enthusiasm among locals. This new brewery will not only enhance the local food and drink scene but also provide a new gathering place for friends, families, and craft beverage enthusiasts. So keep your eyes peeled and your taste buds ready—there’s a new player in town, and they’re here to serve up good vibes and delicious creations!
