Following a fatal incident on Monday afternoon, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has pressed murder charges against a woman. Akiba Kasale Meredith, 53, is currently held at the Beaufort County Detention Center, facing accusations that led to the demise of a 47-year-old male.
Deputies received a distress call directing them to the Oyotunji African Village on Bryant Lane slightly before 3 p.m. Robert Kline, Sergeant of the Sheriff’s Office, confirmed the information and mentioned that upon arrival, they found the victim with life-threatening stab wounds.
Following immediate medical attention, the injured man was taken to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his wounds a few hours later.
The initial investigation indicated that the person responsible for the attack had fled the scene on foot. As the police intensified their search, they discovered Meredith walking back towards the scene of the crime. After a brief interrogation, authorities arrested her on suspicion of the criminal act.
