A Second Suspect Now in Custody

Continuing in the investigation of last week’s tragic Juneteenth mass shooting in Old Settler’s Park, Round Rock, Texas, police have confirmed that a second suspect, a male juvenile, has been apprehended. He was detained at about 8:30 pm on Friday, and transported to the Williamson County Juvenile Justice Center.

The Round Rock Police Department is steadily making progress, though the investigation is still ongoing and they assure the public that further suspects remain under close scrutiny.

About the Tragic Shooting

The incident occurred on June 15, during a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock, Texas. The large outdoor gathering took an unexpected turn when shots rang out, leaving two people dead and 14 others with varying degrees of injuries. The victims were enjoying a day designed to honor the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States, making the event all the more poignant.

The deceased, both of whom were local mothers, have been identified as 33-year-old Lyndsey Vicknair and 52-year-old Ara Duke. Their heartbreaking loss has shaken the local community, serving as a grim reminder of the ongoing threat of gun-related violence in public spaces throughout the country.

Other Suspects

The first suspect taken into custody, 17-year-old Ricky Tyrone Thompson III, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. This charge specifically relates to one of the 14 individuals wounded during the mass shooting.
