Opening up School Events to the Silver Generation

Lexington-Richland School District Five based in Irmo, South Carolina, has announced an initiative to offer Golden Passes free of charge to senior citizens. This initiative is focused on welcoming residents who will be 60 years old or older in time for the 2024-2025 school year.

As well as offering these passes, District Five is actively encouraging senior citizens to participate in and attend district-sponsored events and activities planned for the next academic year.

What Are Golden Passes?

These Golden Passes are a type of permanent photo identification card that grants seniors free entry into a majority of athletic and cultural events across School District Five. However, it should be noted that these golden passes do not apply to playoff games.

“The Golden Pass program brings community members of all ages together and offers a heart-felt thank you to our senior community for their continual supporting role and voluntary efforts,” said School District Five Superintendent, Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr.

Availability of the Golden Passes

District officials have stated that the Golden Passes will be available for collection on Tuesday, July 23, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., as well as on Wednesday, July 24, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. The distribution will take place at the district administration building, located at 1020 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo.

These Gold Passes are lifetime passes, functioning as permanent tokens of the district’s gratitude, and do not require renewal.

An Exciting Prospect for the 2024-2025 School Year

This initiative is set to improve the community spirit and encourage an all-inclusive atmosphere within the schools in the district. By offering free admission, the district hopes to increase the engagement levels of seniors, furthering the integration of different age groups within the community.
