South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Relocates

News Summary

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) is moving its customer service team from the State Farmers Market to a new headquarters at 260 D Epting Lane on February 14. While the customer service phone numbers will remain unchanged, longer wait times may occur during the transition. SCDNR encourages customers to use their online services for boat titling and licensing. Additionally, updates were shared on deer tags for hunting licenses. The transition coincides with a tragic hunting accident that claimed a young man’s life, underlining the importance of safety in outdoor activities.

Exciting Changes for South Carolina’s Department of Natural Resources!

If you’re in West Columbia, get ready for some big news! On February 14, the customer service team of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) is all set to relocate from their current spot at the State Farmers Market to their brand-new headquarters. This shiny new building is located at 260 D Epting Lane, just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the farmers market. It’s a fresh start for the SCDNR team, and they’re looking forward to providing even better services from their new digs!

What Does the Move Mean for You?

Now, for all you loyal customers out there, you might be wondering how this move will affect your interactions with the SCDNR. Well, fear not! The customer service phone numbers you’ve come to know and love will remain unchanged after the transition. This means you can still reach out to them easily for any inquiries or requests.

It’s important to note that even though the move will be happening, the Customer Service Office will continue to operate during this transition. However, it could be a little bit busier than usual, so you might experience longer wait times whether you’re calling or visiting in person. Patience is key during this exciting time!

Convenience is Just a Click Away!

To avoid any hiccups during this transition period, SCDNR encourages everyone to take advantage of their online boat titling and licensing platform. You can visit GoOutdoorsSC.com or download the Go Outdoors SC app to get your boating and licensing needs sorted out without the wait. It’s a user-friendly solution that many South Carolinians are already using, and it’s a great way to stay efficient while things are moving around a bit!

Outdoor Enthusiasts, Get Ready!

Now, while we’re on the topic of the great outdoors, those of you with an annual or three-year hunting license should keep your eyes peeled! The SCDNR is in the process of sending out deer tags, which will officially be valid starting August 15. If you hold a hunting license along with a big game permit, combined license, or sportsman license, you’re all set! And for the lucky lifetime, senior, gratis, disability, and Catawba license holders who requested deer tags, you’ll automatically receive a free base set of tags.

For our youth license holders, remember to make sure you request your free base set of deer tags each year. For everyone who needs an extra set, no worries! Deer tags will be available over-the-counter starting August 5 at various SCDNR offices, including locations in Charleston, Clemson, West Columbia, Florence, Aynor, and York.

Tragic Incident in Kershaw County

As much as we love to focus on good news, it’s crucial to mention the serious side of hunting. Sadly, a young man named Derek Jordan, aged 25, lost his life in a hunting accident in Kershaw County. The authorities received a report about the incident at 3:06 p.m. on a Saturday, and Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene due to an apparent gunshot wound. The SCDNR, alongside the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office, is currently investigating this unfortunate accident, and an autopsy is scheduled at Newberry Medical Center.

Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased during this difficult time, as expressed in a heartfelt social media post from the SCDNR. It’s a reminder for all outdoor enthusiasts to prioritize safety and caution while enjoying the great outdoors.

Wrapping Up

In conclusion, the upcoming move of the SCDNR customer service team marks an exciting chapter for outdoor lovers in South Carolina. Use the tools available to streamline your needs, stay safe in the woods, and embrace the changes as they come! Here’s to a smooth transition and many more outdoor adventures on the horizon!
