AUGUSTA, Ga. – Body Found in Savannah River Identified
Authorities have identified the body found in the Savannah River last week as 38-year-old Jermaine Pate from Georgiana, Ala. According to Richmond County Coroner’s Office, Pate’s remains were discovered in the river on the morning of July 19.
The discovery was made by a fisherman who promptly alerted the authorities. Richmond County Corboner, Mark Bowen confirmed his presence at the scene around 8:18 a.m. near 600 riverside block of Riverfront Drive where the body was found. The area was cleared by approximately 8:50 a.m.
Suspect Arrested in Separate Augusta Murder
In another incident in Augusta, authorities have detained 36-year-old Tamiko Shynese Bolton for the murder of Elias Jkhael Delk, which took place on June 15 along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Both incidents currently stand unconnected.
Further Investigation and Autopsy Pending
The body of the deceased, Pate, was sent to the GBI lab for an autopsy, the coroner’s office revealed. Results of the autopsy are still pending and expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding Pate’s death.
