Rock Hill, SC – Northwestern High School capped its undefeated football season with a thrilling 34-31 victory over top contender Irmo in the SCHSL Class 5A Division II championship, held at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on Saturday night. With this win, the Trojans claim their sixth state title in program history and their first since 2015.

The game culminated with a dramatic moment as senior kicker Matthew Fish successfully made a 27-yard field goal as time expired, solidifying the Trojans’ victory. “This is the best night of my life,” Fish expressed after the game. “I love being with these guys, and I’m gonna remember this forever.”

Northwestern, finishing the season with a perfect 14-0 record, initially took the lead with a touchdown pass from quarterback Finley Polk to senior wide receiver Tadarrian Knox, making the score 7-0.
