Riverside, the defending Class AAAAA state champions, will face off against Bishop England in the Class AAAA girls’ finals. Greenville, a former all-classifications state titleholder, will compete against Lucy Beckham in the boys’ championship match. The games are scheduled to take place on Saturday at Irmo High School in Columbia.
One of the players to keep an eye on for Riverside is junior midfielder Bella Bright. Bright has been a dominant force on the field, ranking fifth in the state for goals scored and fourth in overall points. With 189 career goals, Bright is committed to Florida Southern and is known for her prowess in winning draw controls.
Another standout player for Riverside is senior goalkeeper Marianna Lopez. Lopez, who has shown remarkable improvement in her save percentage this season, will continue her lacrosse career at Mars Hill after playing an integral role in Riverside’s past successes.
For Greenville, senior defenseman Doug Landrum has been a standout performer this season. Landrum’s ability to push up as a long-stick midfielder has not only led to defensive success but has also made him a scoring threat, ranking fourth on the team in goals scored.
Junior attack Will Wright leads Riverside in points and assists, showcasing his skill in setting up scoring opportunities for his team. With key player Christian Carbonell sidelined due to injury, Wright’s performance will be crucial in the championship game.
