Revitalization Milestone Reached in West Columbia’s River District as 4West Welcomes Final Tenant

Exciting Developments in West Columbia’s River District!

West Columbia is buzzing with energy as the revitalization of its River District hits a significant milestone! The 4West mixed-use development has officially welcomed its last commercial tenant, making way for a vibrant community space that promises to bring both lifestyle and entertainment to the area.

A New Chapter for 4West

Just yesterday, West Columbia celebrated the grand opening of the final phase of the Brookland Apartments mixed-use development, situated at the bustling corner of Meeting and State streets. The fresh tenants include none other than local architecture firm LS3P, which will be moving into an impressive 11,000-square-foot space. With this signing, the entire complex has reached full occupancy for its 30,000 square feet of commercial space!

Other businesses already thriving at 4West include Black Rooster, a favorite spot for bites and drinks, and Another Broken Egg Cafe, known for its scrumptious brunch. Rounding out the mix are Select Physical Therapy, The WRKT, and Gentleman’s Quarters Barbershop, making this place a hotspot for both locals and visitors alike.

A Celebration to Remember

The arrival of LS3P isn’t just another signing; it will be marked with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 4:30 PM, promising plenty of excitement for community members. Mayor Tem Miles expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am excited LS3P has made its home in the beautiful 4 West section of the Brookland Development. This wonderful addition to our business community completes a multi-year project between Estates and Companies and the City of West Columbia.”

A Historic Transformation

It’s hard to believe that just a couple of decades ago, the area now known as the River District was largely made up of dirt lots. The project led by Estates and Companies has been a collaborative effort involving city officials and local businesses, all working toward the common goal of transforming this neglected part of town into a thriving neighborhood.

With construction finishing up on the apartments, offices, and commercial spaces, the property is now valued at nearly $30 million. This revitalization effort illustrates a brilliant vision and perseverance for West Columbia and its exciting future.

What’s Next for West Columbia?

The completion of the Brookland and 4West project doesn’t signify the end of West Columbia’s ambitious redevelopment plans. The city is ambitiously looking to expand its revitalization onto the other side of Meeting Street. A brand new project, the Capitol Square redevelopment, received the green light on October 1 and will replace the now-vacant shopping center at 469 Sunset Blvd. with hundreds of new apartments and retail options.

Even with ongoing tension surrounding the House of Raeford Farms, the controversial chicken plant nearby, plans are underway to continue the modern transformation of the River District. Community leaders are optimistic about filling in gaps along State Street to create upscale housing, dining, and shopping venues.

Final Thoughts

All of these updates come together to weave a promising future for West Columbia, reflecting the hard work and vision of many in the community. Whether you’re a local resident or just someone passing through, there’s a palpable energy in the air. People are excited about what’s to come, and with key establishments like LS3P poised to open soon, it’s a wonderful time to be in West Columbia!
