An investigation into the incident is now being conducted by Kershaw County Sheriff’s office because of involvement from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) in the chase.
The chase purportedly began around 4:30 PM on Saturday, with Highway Patrol officers attempting to carry out a traffic stop on a car near Forest Drive. Instead of pulling over, the car management to speed away, sparking the commencement of a pursuit.
The suspect led Highway Patrol troopers and Richland County deputies on an intense high-speed chase, which finally concluded when the suspect’s vehicle collided near the Winslow subdivision, situated off Clemson road. Despite the nature of the crash, no injuries were reported at the scene, according to the deputies.

No further details have been provided yet about the reasons prompting the original traffic stop, or what charges the suspect might face as a result of the chase and the ensuing crash.
