LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. – Significant progress has been made on a $65 million mixed-purpose development project in the Red Bank area of Lexington County, according to local real estate firm NAI Columbia.
Platt Springs Crossing, located between 5400 and 5470 Platt Springs Road, is a 57-acre development. The center of the project will feature a 51,000 square-foot Lowes Foods grocery store. This anchor will be complemented by 10,000 square feet of neighboring retail space and an additional 8,400 square-foot parcel for health-related retail. To date, construction reached 60% completion as of Aug. 19.
Spearheaded by Lexington Land Development Company, the project will accommodate an array of enterprises such as Chipotle, Planet Fitness, Whataburger, Firestone, Panda Express, Heartland Dental, Well Street Urgent Care, Harbor Freight, Big Blue Marble Academy, and a regional bank. Other yet-to-be-named users will be announced in the forthcoming months, stated NAI Columbia.
Furthermore, the project encompasses the construction of 142 townhouses. Developers have scheduled the site work for these residential structures to begin this September. The first of these townhouses are slated to be available to the public in the third quarter of 2025.
Vertical construction at the Chipotle site has already commenced, according to NAI Columbia. In addition, groundbreakings on the construction sites for Panda Express, Whataburger, Harbor Freight, Big Blue Marble Academy, and the medical retail space are anticipated within the next 60 days.
With a total estimated cost of $65 million, Platt Springs Crossing represents a substantial investment in the Red Bank area, affording local residents increased shopping, dining, and living options. The project is also expected to contribute to local economic growth via job creation and increasing property values.
