Hey there, Columbia residents! We’ve got some great news for those who love to recycle or need to get rid of some junk. Starting on **September 9**, Richland County will roll out a new, simplified schedule for both of its drop-off sites. This is sure to make your life a little easier and your recycling efforts much smoother!
Both the Lower Richland Drop-Off Center, located at 10531 Garners Ferry Rd. and reachable at (803) 776-2324, and the Clemson Road Recycling Center at 900 Clemson Rd., with the phone number (803) 576-2440, will now be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Yep, that’s right! They’ll be closed on Sundays and Mondays, so make sure you plan accordingly. This change is all about making things simpler for residents and businesses in the area.
The new hours are designed to reduce confusion for everyone using the drop-off facilities. It’s a big win for our community! The changes will also help to better allocate the staff and resources during peak times, making your experience quicker and more efficient. Who doesn’t want that, right?
For those of you who might need to use the C&D Landfill Drop-Off Center at 1070 Caughman Rd. N in Columbia, don’t worry! Its hours will stay the same: 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Just keep in mind, it will also be closed on Sundays. You can call them at (803) 576-2390 if you have any questions.
Now, if you’re wondering what you can actually take to the Clemson and Lower Richland sites, we’ve got you covered! These locations are meant for residential drop-offs only, and they accept a variety of materials for recycling. Make sure to check their website or call ahead to ensure you know what’s accepted, as some items, like **household garbage, clothing, and shoes**, aren’t allowed at these drop-off centers. Instead, you can take those items to the Waste Management Landfill located at 1047 Highway Church Rd., Elgin, reachable at (803) 744-3345.
These changes are certainly aimed at helping our wonderful community work together towards a cleaner, greener Columbia. Recycling not only helps reduce waste, but it also contributes to a more sustainable environment for our children and grandchildren. So why not take advantage of these new convenient hours at the drop-off sites? Gather up those recyclables and get ready for a smoother drop-off experience!
We love our planet, and every small step counts, so let’s do our part and keep Columbia beautiful! Happy recycling!
