Pelican's SnoBalls offers a delightful variety of flavors for everyone to enjoy.
Pelican’s SnoBalls is permanently closing its North Main Street location in Columbia, which has been a sweet spot for locals. The closure, announced for the 2025 season, follows challenges in staffing as schools resume. While Columbia says goodbye, a new location will open in Anderson this June, promising a delightful array of flavors and community engagement. Pelican’s history and dedication to flavor continue to thrive as they journey into new beginnings.
Columbia is getting ready for a sweet new chapter as Pelican’s SnoBalls announces the permanent closure of its North Main Street location. The popular shaved ice spot, known for its dazzling array of flavors, will be shuttering its doors at 2404 Main St. in time for the 2025 spring and summer season. This decision was shared with the community through heartfelt posts on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
In its farewell message, Pelican’s extended a warm thank you to the NoMa community and its business association for their unwavering support throughout the years. This marks a significant change for the business, which had moved to its current location in 2022 after previously serving ice lovers from the 2700 block of Main.
Pelican’s SnoBalls has become a staple in the region, offering delicious New Orleans-style shaved ice with more than 100 flavors. If you’ve ever popped into one of their locations in South Carolina or any of the over 200 Pelican’s shops across 14 states, you know the excitement of picking from traditional to totally unique flavors. Whether you’re a fan of classic cherry or something adventurous like bubblegum or blue raspberry, there’s something for everyone. However, every good snow cone must come to an end, and that’s exactly what’s happening in Columbia.
But don’t fret too much, because while Columbia is saying goodbye, Anderson is getting ready to say hello! A brand-new Pelican’s SnoBalls location is set to open its doors at 146 Civic Center Blvd. this June. This exciting new spot will feature a charming small building equipped with games, family-friendly tables, and plenty of umbrellas for shade. It sounds like the perfect place to gather with family and friends while sipping on your favorite snowball.
The new Anderson location is run by Davida and Jim Blevins, who have close ties to the community thanks to their children attending Anderson University. They are more than just business owners; they are invested in the local area. Just like the Columbia location, the Anderson branch will boast an impressive lineup of flavors, including specialty ones created just for the local crowd!
Anderson’s Pelican’s SnoBalls will likely be a summer haven for residents, operating seven days a week. They’ll be open from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Get ready to indulge in all those delightful icy treats!
