Lexington residents have something to celebrate! The long-awaited opening of the Outback Steakhouse occurred last Wednesday, bringing a delicious taste of Australia right into the heart of our town. Located at 5595 Sunset Blvd, this fabulous new eatery takes over the spot that used to house O’Charley’s, a beloved venue that sadly closed its doors in the summer of 2023.
The journey to get an Outback in Lexington has been a dream in the making for nearly a decade. Nikki Shiggs, the proud proprietor of this new establishment, shared, “It has been the goal to open an Outback in the town for about 10 years.” With the chance to claim the former O’Charley’s location, the team jumped on the opportunity. “O’Charley’s used to be the happening spot, so now we want to be the happening spot here in Lexington,” Shiggs expressed with excitement.
On opening day, the buzz around town was palpable, with eager customers waiting to dive into the iconic menu. Nikki noted that even past 9 p.m., the restaurant was still bustling with guests. “The community response has been fantastic,” she reported, sharing that enthusiastic patrons had been lining up since the grand opening news broke. “I’m glad to say that opening day is finally here, and we’re here to serve our community.”
If you’re not already familiar with Outback’s menu, you’re in for a treat! The Australian-themed steakhouse is famously known for its mouthwatering Bloomin’ Onion, topped with their signature bloom sauce. And who could resist a tempting sirloin steak or Aussie cheese fries laden with bacon and a homemade ranch dressing? Not to mention the Alice Springs chicken that’s loaded with sautéed mushrooms, bacon, cheese, and honey mustard! Your taste buds will surely thank you!
Shiggs expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped make this dream a reality, from the training crew to upper management. But she is particularly thankful for her team, stating, “I want to thank my staff because without them, I’m nothing – they’re more important than me.”
The Outback Steakhouse in Lexington is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. And if you’re looking for a job, you’re in luck! Shiggs mentioned there are still openings for additional front-of-house team members. Anyone interested can simply visit the Outback website and click on the careers link to apply.
With clear skies and temperatures reaching a comfy 73°F expected throughout this week, there’s no better time to gather your friends and family and check out the new Outback Steakhouse. You can enjoy a great meal with a stunning atmosphere without having to travel all the way to Australia! So, what are you waiting for? Dive into that Bloomin’ Onion and support your locals today!
