Exciting News for Lexington Foodies: O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe Set to Reopen!

Hello Lexington! If you’ve been missing the delightful aroma of fresh pastries and hot coffee wafting through the streets of downtown, we have some fantastic news for you! O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe, a beloved spot nestled at 121 E. Main St., is gearing up for a much-anticipated reopening on Monday, October 14.

A New Chapter Begins

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe, which temporarily closed its doors back on September 22. Owner Matt O’Hara shared a heartfelt message at the time, expressing how the bakery leadership was “evaluating all options” to navigate through some challenging times. But fast forward to the weekend, and the cafe announced its exciting return with an upbeat Facebook post that gets every local food lover buzzing!

Starting on the opening day, O’Hara’s will be welcoming customers from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day. The cafe promises an inviting atmosphere where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and more, coming back to its roots as a full-service coffee shop. So whether you’re in the mood for a steaming cup of specialty coffee or a delicious plate of breakfast, O’Hara’s has got you covered!

What’s Cooking?

As part of the reopening announcement, O’Hara’s Café shared some mouth-watering photos over the weekend that showcase key menu items. One of the highlights is a classic breakfast plate featuring fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, and golden hash browns. If that doesn’t make your stomach growl, we don’t know what will! It’s sure to be the perfect start to your morning—or a satisfying lunch break!

However, keep in mind that the cafe will initially hold off on offering its famous desserts and dessert bar hours, which have been a hit in the past. But the good news is that they are hoping to bring back these sweet treats “in the not-too-distant future,” so stay tuned!

A Familiar Face in the House

What’s even better is that much of the familiar staff that you’ve come to know and love over the past five years will still be around to serve you. It’s always nice to have those friendly faces when you walk through the door. That kind of warmth is what makes O’Hara’s not just any bakery café but a true part of the community!

And for those who may not know, Matt O’Hara isn’t just the owner of this café—he’s also part of the ownership team at O’Hara’s Public House, an Irish pub located just down the street at 131 E. Main St. Luckily, that location has remained open during the bakery’s closure, giving locals another spot to grab a bite.

Downtown Lexington Thrives

O’Hara’s Bakery Café is just one of many establishments contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Lexington. The area has seen an exciting transformation recently, welcoming a plethora of popular eateries such as Keg Cowboy, Bodhi Thai Dining, Groucho’s Deli, and many more. It’s not just food, though—shoppers can find wonderful boutiques like Craig Reagin Clothiers and The Kindred Boutique to explore.

Plus, with venues like the Icehouse Amphitheater hosting lively events, and new spots like TakoSushi popping up at the corners of Main and Church streets, downtown Lexington is buzzing with energy.

Mark Your Calendar!

If you’ve been counting down the days to get back to O’Hara’s, now you can mark your calendars for October 14. With a delightful atmosphere, great food, and a friendly team ready to greet you, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or a moment to savor good coffee.

So, Lexington, prepare to return to your favorite bakery café for what is sure to be a warm and welcoming reopening!
