Exciting New Lagoon Development Set to Transform North Columbia with Vibrant Beach Community

COLUMBIA: Exciting New Lagoon Development Coming Soon!

Columbia has some thrilling news on the horizon! A Florida company, Crystal Lagoons, recently received official permission to build a stunning man-made lagoon and beach as part of a brand-new housing development in North Columbia. This exciting project is set to become the centerpiece of the upcoming Oak Hills subdivision, located right at the intersection of Fairfield and Crane Church roads, making it a prime spot for new residents.

A Vibrant Beach Community in the Midlands

With the green light now in hand, construction on the lagoon is expected to kick off in early 2025, as confirmed by the company. This new lagoon will stretch across an impressive three acres, and the surrounding area will include a delightful one-and-a-half-acre artificial beach. The entire Oak Hills community will consist of nearly six acres, offering around 2,400 lots for single-family homes and townhouses!

The project will not only bring new homes but will also enhance the lifestyle for everyone living in the area. Joseph Baldassarra, the president of Broadstreet, a private equity firm involved in the project, expressed his enthusiasm by saying, “This significant milestone gets us one step closer to bringing our vision of a vibrant beach lifestyle community in the Midlands.”

What to Expect in the New Community

The Oak Hills project aims to provide a wealth of amenities for residents and visitors alike. Imagine enjoying tennis courts, a children’s area, and even a special peninsula for weddings. Plus, there will be plenty of options for dining out and shopping, thanks to the planned waterfront restaurants and retail space. There’s even a plan for water sport rentals, a sprawling park, and a luxurious hotel to top it all off!

Baldassarra also noted that “The Crystal Lagoons at Oak Hills will provide exceptional, safe, and enjoyable recreational spaces for all ages.” This project is set to become a lively gathering spot that promises to enrich the quality of life for residents and attract visitors from all over the region.

A First for South Carolina

Interestingly enough, this lagoon will mark Crystal Lagoon’s first venture in South Carolina. The company has successfully constructed over 70 lagoons and beaches worldwide, with a vision to create beautiful, artificial beaches that can either be part of private developments or open to the public in various settings.

With South Carolina experiencing significant population growth over the past decade, it’s no wonder that the company has chosen to invest in Columbia. The anticipation for this development has been building ever since Crystal Lagoons announced their plans in Fall 2022. Now that the permits are finalized, it looks like we are one step closer to welcoming a brand-new community that promises sunshine, fun, and a lively beach vibe right here in the Midlands!

Looking Ahead

As we look forward to the future, this project could truly transform the North Columbia area. With its mix of residential and recreational facilities, it’s easy to see how the Oak Hills community is poised to become a beloved destination for both residents and visitors alike.

Stay tuned for more updates as construction gets underway, and get ready to enjoy what promises to be a fantastic new addition to our lovely city!
