Lexington is buzzing with energy, and it seems the excitement is only getting started! Over the past few years, the town has been transforming, particularly along the vibrant Main Street corridor. New restaurants, bars, boutiques, and attractions have sprung up like daisies in spring, making downtown the place to be. And the heart of this lively atmosphere is none other than the Icehouse Amphitheater, which pulls in crowds year after year with its fantastic lineup of concerts, movie nights, and community markets.
The latest addition to this growing hub is the Circa Barbershop, which opened its doors on October 1st at 101-B E. Main St. This trendy spot is conveniently tucked behind Craig Reagin Clothiers and Craft Axe Throwing, just across the parking lot from the delightful Cribb’s Sandwich & Sweet Shop. Plus, it’s just a stone’s throw away from the lively Icehouse Amphitheater.
Halie Holland, the 28-year-old owner/operator of Circa Lexington, is ready to bring her unique flair to the community. Having joined the Circa family five years ago, Halie has worked in multiple locations, honing her skills and soaking up the Circa experience. “This is definitely a big leap, but I’m so grateful for my whole team,” Halie shared. “We work together like a big family.”
The plan is to have four barbers on the team, with an extra one rotating in. At its grand opening, Circa Lexington already had two talented barbers ready to start snipping away! If you’re looking to freshen up your hairstyle, making a reservation through the Circa website is highly encouraged, especially with all the buzz surrounding the new shop.
Founded in Columbia in 2014, Circa Barbershop has rapidly expanded with several locations statewide and even a spot in Pittsburgh. The founder, DR Granger, expressed his enthusiasm for Halie’s leadership and the potential of the Lexington location. “We’ve had our eyes on Lexington for nearly two years,” Granger remarked. “Finding the perfect location was key, and we believe this spot is just right for Halie and her clientele.”
One of the fabulous perks of visiting Circa is the seamless shopping opportunity it offers! Walk into the barbershop, and you’ll find an entrance to Craig Reagin Clothiers right next door. Halie believes it’s a match made in heaven. “Upscale men’s grooming and upscale clothing go hand-in-hand. You can look your best from head to toe,” she noted.
The new barbershop is located in a charming building that has stood tall since 1919. Thanks to Chapin Commercial Construction, the 2,300-square-foot ground floor underwent a significant renovation. In addition to Circa, the basement now houses Craig Reagin’s offices, storage, and kitchen space. Chad Lindler, founder of Chapin Commercial Construction, expressed his joy in taking part in Lexington’s revitalization. “Renovating a historic building like this has its challenges, but that’s what makes it so fulfilling,” he shared.
Circa’s arrival isn’t the only sign of progress on Main Street. Just last month, the exciting Latin and Asian fusion restaurant, TakoSushi, opened at 102-C W. Main St., and plans for a Voodoo Brewing location are in the works nearby. Plus, a modern steakhouse helmed by restaurateurs Steve Cook, Joe Walker III, and Ryan Jones is gearing up to open where Alodia’s used to be, promising even more dining options.
Lexington is truly on the rise with its ever-growing list of attractions. From getting a fresh haircut at Circa to tasting delightful new cuisines, the city promises exciting times ahead. If you’re in the area, swing by and experience the charm of downtown Lexington for yourself—you won’t be disappointed!
