Celebrating 70 Years of Mungo Homes: A Commitment to Community and Employee Culture
Mount Pleasant, SC – On a bright sunny day, with temperatures reaching a lovely 81°F and a clear sky overhead, Mungo Homes is basking in more than just the beautiful weather. This year marks the company’s 70th anniversary, and CEO Steven Mungo couldn’t be more thrilled to reflect on the journey that started back in 1954 with his father, Michael J. Mungo.
“We’ve always believed that giving back is the most important part of our success as a company,” says Steven Mungo. His passion for community service is at the heart of everything Mungo Homes does. The company has always prioritized a positive workplace culture along with its commitment to making a significant impact in the communities it serves. As a testament to its approach, Mungo Homes has garnered numerous accolades that highlight its exceptional workplace environment.

A Heart for Philanthropy
Mungo Homes isn’t stopping at workplace accolades; it is also ramping up its charitable efforts through the Mungo Homes Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to supporting various causes including economic stability, education, health, housing, and emergency hardships across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.
A major initiative of the Foundation is the Michael’s House project. This undertaking is a special endeavor honoring the legacy of Michael J. Mungo. The house aims to address housing insecurity and will see collaboration between Mungo Homes and trade partners, who will donate labor and materials to make this dream home a reality.
Once completed, this home in Lexington, SC will benefit St. Andrews Village, a project in partnership with the United Way of the Midlands and a local nonprofit named Homeless No More. This organization is dedicated to providing stability and housing for vulnerable families, and the net proceeds from Michael’s House will directly support their important work.
Looking Ahead
As Mungo Homes celebrates this monumental milestone, the focus remains firmly on the community and employee welfare. “Through Michael’s House and the Mungo Homes Foundation, we are able to make meaningful contributions to the communities that have supported us for 70 years,” Mungo shares. With such a strong foundation built on family values and community support, there’s no doubt that Mungo Homes will continue to thrive for many years to come.
