$418,700 Granted to 16 Midlands Nonprofits for Community Improvements

Columbia, S.C. – The Central Carolina Community Foundation (CCCF) has awarded a total of $418,700 to 16 nonprofits in its annual mission to foster community improvements. As recipients of the Connected Communities Grant, these organizations are set to launch projects that enhance the quality of life in Midlands, contributing towards a more equitable and enjoyable place to live, work, play, and raise a family.

Since its inception in 2016, the CCCF’s Connected Communities Grant has consistently supported local projects, distributing an impressive $3,258,273 to date. This year’s efforts continue this trend, with projects poised to significantly impact sectors like job opportunities, healthcare facilities and services, affordable housing, safe and high-quality recreational areas, and arts and cultural events.

Grants Increase Resident Quality of Life

“The purpose of Connected Communities Grants goes beyond mere funding. They are aimed at enriching the lives of Midlands residents and fostering community attachment,” says Program Officer Trimease Carter. “Each funded project addresses a need in our community, which we are absolutely delighted to support.”

The grants come from the Foundation’s Community Impact Endowment Fund and several Field of Interest funds. The generous donations from visionary donors led to the establishment of these funds. Their unrestricted gifts have given the Foundation the flexibility to respond to ever-changing community needs and opportunities for generations.

This year’s projects span across Fairfield, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, and Sumter counties, impacting residents throughout CCCF’s 11-county service area.

The 2024 Connected Communities Grant Recipients

The 16 grant recipients include several nonprofits aimed at enhancing the Midlands community. The beneficiaries range from educational foundations, medical outreach programs, recreational initiatives, to arts and culture advocates. Their projects will address a variety of areas to improve local residents’ access to necessary resources and enhance their quality of life.
