A peaceful graveside memorial setup in honor of Martha Huggins
The Elliott, SC community gathers to honor Martha Stough Welsh Huggins, who passed away on March 9, 2025. A graveside service is set for March 15 at Wells Cemetery. Residents of Elliott, SC, are coming together to remember and honor the life of Martha Stough Welsh Huggins, who passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025. This warm-hearted woman, known for her kindness and unwavering dedication to family and community, will be memorialized in a graveside funeral service scheduled for 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Wells Cemetery.
The funeral service will provide friends, family, and community members an opportunity to pay their respects and share cherished memories of Martha. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. Martha was a proud native of Sumter, SC, born at Tuomey Hospital, and a loving daughter to George Bussaine Welsh, Sr. and Evelyn Vernell Cherry Welsh. Her unwavering involvement in her community was marked by her work in finance and managing offices for real estate and insurance businesses. Yet her impact was felt most profoundly in her role as a long-serving First Grade Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Camden. Those who knew her would surely agree she embodied a spirit of love and kindness that touched many lives.
The heart of Martha’s life was undoubtedly her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, James Boyce Huggins, II, and her daughter, Dr. Martha Paige Huggins Meeker. Her family includes her cherished son-in-law, Lee Earl Meeker, and two adoring granddaughters, Piper Ashlee Giuliani, who is married to John, and Amber Cherry Meeker. Martha also leaves behind her sister, Evelyn Welsh Langston, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.
While the absence of Martha will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege to know her, friends and family are encouraged to keep her spirit alive through acts of kindness.
