Irmo Branch Library to Host Summer Book Donation Drive This Saturday

The Irmo Branch Library, situated at 6251 St. Andrews Road, Irmo, South Carolina, invites the community to take part in their summer book donation event this coming Saturday, June 8. The event, organized by the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library, will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Library supporters can either drop off books curbside at the library’s side entrance, where volunteers from the Friends group will assist with offloading, or they can bring their donations directly to the library’s Mungo Room. Clearly marked signs will guide donors to the designated drop-off points.

This organized activity adheres to a strict policy on the types of items that can be accepted. CDs, VHS tapes, magazines, dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks older than five years, travel and computer books more than three years old, Readers Digest condensed books, as well as any moldy, damaged, or ripped books are not eligible for donation. It is also important to note that due to storage limitations, organizers reserve the right to reject donations as deemed necessary.

Prospective donors are requested to adhere to the scheduled donation time on Saturday, as the facility does not accept book donations outside of the designated times.

This drive will seed books for both the Friends Book Store located inside the library and the biannual Friends Book Sale. As a non-profit, volunteer organization, the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library supports, promotes, and helps raise funds to support the operations of the Irmo Branch Library.
