Lexington County Solid Waste Management Announces Independence Day Schedule for 2024

In a latest development in Lexington County, the Solid Waste Division has announced their holiday schedule for July 4th, 2024.

Curbside Solid Waste Collection Schedule

Residential Curbside Solid Waste and Recycling Collection in unincorporated areas will follow an altered pick up schedule during the Independence Day week. Notably, no pick up has been scheduled for Thursday, July 4th, which will be observed as a holiday. Instead, Thursday’s collection will be taken care of on Friday, July 5th. Additionally, Friday’s collection has been shifted to Saturday, July 6th. Normal pick up schedule will resume from Monday, July 8th.

To promptly receive updates or for any queries, Lexington county residents have been advised to download the LEXINGTON COUNTY SC SOLIDWASTE App from their phone’s app store. This will enable automatic notifications regarding the curbside schedule on phones or emails. The authorities are also active on their official Facebook page where the latest updates will be posted.

For specific questions related to the curbside collection, residents are requested to directly contact their curbside hauler. The curbside services are provided by Capital Waste Services, GFL-Waste Industries, and Tyler Sanitation of Columbia.

Collection and Recycling Center Schedule

All eleven Lexington County Collection and Recycling Centers, which remain closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will also be closed on Thursday, July 4th. These centers will resume their usual operations on Wednesday, July 3rd and Friday, July 5th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Lexington County Landfill Schedule

As part of the revised schedule, the Lexington County Solid Waste Management Landfill, located at 429 Landfill Lane, off Highway 302 in the Edmund community, will also be closed on Independence Day. It will reopen on Friday, July 5th at 7:00 a.m. and will also be open on Saturday, July 6th from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Solid Waste Administrative Offices

To honor the holiday, the administrative offices of the Lexington County Department of Solid Waste Management will also be closed on Thursday, July 4th. They will return to their regular work schedules on Friday, July 5th.

Apart from this, residents have been requested to dispose of fireworks responsibly. The County has issued guidelines for proper disposal of used and unused fireworks and the information can be accessed on the Lexington County webpage.
