Lexington County hosts variety of exciting events for the week of April 11
LEXINGTON COUNTY – This week offers a plethora of exciting events for locals and visitors alike. From music concerts to outdoor activities and educational programs, there is something for everyone to look forward to.
Friday – April 12: Green Thumb and Music Enthusiasts Delight
The SC State Farmers Market in West Columbia kicks off Friday with the Midlands Plant and Flower Sale running from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering visitors free admission and parking. In addition to various plant and flower options, attendees can look forward to shopping for gardening equipment, seasonal produce, and other decor pieces.
For music lovers, Friday night sees three different concerts in various locations. The North Carolina band, Nu Blu, will be playing a mix of American bluegrass and country music at Bill’s Music Shop & Pickin’ Parlor at 8 p.m. Concurrently, vocalist Beth Inabinett and her band “For The Funk Of It” will present “The Sounds of Neo Soul” at Chayz Lounge. Savage Craft Ale Works will host a performance by the Knights Of Flannel, starting at 7 p.m.
Saturday – April 13: Family Fun and Soulful Melodies
Saturday offers family-friendly activities at Clinton Sease Farm where attendees get to experience a day of fruit picking, playing on the farm, and wagon riding among other fun engagements. The Strawberry Pick & Play event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Later in the evening, Regina Carter, an acclaimed violinist, brings her musical prowess to the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College.
Tuesday – April 16: Walk Down Memory Lane
A midweek historical treat awaits attendees at the Lexington County Main Library as they host another chapter of their “Historically Speaking” lecture series. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free to attend and welcomes all history buffs interested in learning about different aspects of Lexington County’s history.
Thursday – April 18: Concert and Conviviality
The Icehouse Amphitheater invites everyone to another Icehouse Live concert series featuring Under The Sun. Known for their renditions of hits from various eras, the band will take to the stage at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening. On the same day, The FARM 1780 hosts their first Hen Night of 2024 inviting all for a cheese and wine spread with a tasting session of crisp wines from Catalonia, Spain.
Weekend Wrap-up: Athletics and Drama
Rounding off the week, the Governor’s Cup Main Street Mile Run in Columbia on Friday provides an opportunity for top distance runners to shine. The Lexington County week concludes with a theatrical performance of “The Movie Game” at the Ritz Theatre in Newberry on Friday.
