Good news, Irmo residents! The proposed development at 2947 Dreher Shoals Road/S.C. 6 is making strides following some tense meetings and community discussions. After an initial denial and even a legal challenge, the Irmo Planning Commission gave a thumbs-up to the developer’s request to rezone 65 acres for the ambitious Water Walk development. This project aims to add up to 550 residential units to our beloved Lake Murray area.

The latest plans revealed a mix of residential options, with around 280 single-family homes and townhomes, alongside 220 senior-living units. But that’s not all—developers are also looking to sprinkle in some commercial spaces, which could include dining and retail options. For instance, they will make a $1,000 contribution per unit to help the town expand its services.
