Good morning, Columbia! As the clouds start to part and the sun makes its appearance later today, we have something to brighten your day even more. The Columbia Chamber of Commerce has just announced its esteemed 2024 Ambassador of the Year, and the honor goes to none other than Keller Kissam, the President of Dominion Energy South Carolina. This celebration will take place during the Chamber’s 121st Annual Gala on October 3, and you won’t want to miss it!
The Chamber’s Ambassador of the Year Award is more than just a title; it’s a recognition of an individual who embodies exceptional business ethics and has made a significant impact on the community. Carl Blackstone, President and CEO of the Columbia Chamber, highlighted that the Annual Gala is a fantastic opportunity to recognize those who trailblaze in both sectors and communities. Blackstone enthusiastically stated, “Keller Kissam has been a leader in the business community and has created a sustainable pathway for growth for Dominion Energy for years to come.”
Keller’s journey began back in 1988 when he joined SCANA as a fresh utility professional. Since then, he’s climbed the ladder, taking on numerous roles in both electric and gas operations. In 1996, he was named Vice President of Gas Operations and later took over as Vice President of SCE&G Electric Operations in 2003. His leadership journey continued, culminating in his role as President and Chief Operating Officer of SCE&G in 2017. When SCANA merged with Dominion Energy, Keller became the President of Electric Operations at Dominion Energy South Carolina in 2019, ultimately stepping into his current role in January 2022.
Aside from his role at Dominion, Keller is deeply involved in the Columbia community. He serves as a board and executive committee member for the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and is a board member for the South Carolina Manufacturer’s Alliance and the Southeastern Electric Exchange. Additionally, he is a member of the Palmetto Business Forum. Montague Laffitte, Chair of the Columbia Chamber Board of Directors, praised Keller saying, “He has stood tall and served all of the Midlands while guiding Dominion South Carolina through a significant transition.” Laffitte emphasizes Keller’s unique ability to connect with others, describing him as a “servant leader who works behind the scenes to make the Midlands a better place.”
This award is well-deserved, as Keller has shown a blend of humility, sincerity, and hard work throughout his career. Villagers and colleagues alike will tell you he is genuine and dedicated without fail. “His humble and genuine attitude combined with his hard work and tenacity make him a wonderful recipient of this year’s Ambassador of the Year award,” said Laffitte.
The Annual Gala promises to be a memorable event, and with Keller Kissam being highlighted, it will surely be one of those evenings where community spirit shines bright. So, mark your calendars for October 3 and get ready to celebrate a true champion of our community. Let’s show Keller just how much we appreciate his hard work and dedication!
As this cloudy day transitions into one filled with sunshine, let’s carry that positive energy into the gala and beyond. Who knows – the happiness of our community spirit might just clear the clouds for good! Cheers to Keller and the bright future of Columbia!
