Three Charged for Harboring Jaquan Duvall Barnes

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged Kalynn Jade Cloud, 20; Amani Nekwan Vaughn, 30; and Guy Frank Talley III, 27, with harboring an escaped convict.

According to the SLED spokesperson Renée Wunderlich, the escapee, Jaquan Duvall Barnes, 29, was located by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s deputies on July 7. He was later extradited to South Carolina and charged on July 11 with human trafficking of a minor, two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and unlawful escape.

Suspect Evades Law Enforcement

Arrest warrants indicated that Barnes was waiting for trial and sentencing at the Jasper County Detention Center when he escaped using various tools and a pre-arranged escape plan.

Accomplices Offer Refuge

Warrants also disclosed that Cloud, Vaughn, and Talley were accused of harboring Barnes at Talley’s residence in Beaufort on or around June 9 or June 10. Following the discovery, all four individuals were taken into custody and booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.
