Irmo, South Carolina – The Irmo Fire Department halted normal school activities on various campuses within the School District Five last Friday, following a gas leak warning near Irmo High School.
Irmo High School, Irmo Middle School, and CrossRoads Intermediate School were the educational institutions impacted by the sudden gas leak. Due to safety concerns, the Fire Department placed these schools on Secure Status, meaning students and school staff were able to move around within the buildings, however, no one was permitted to either enter or leave the premises.
The Secure Status was kept in effect until approximately 3:30 pm. Following this, the Irmo Fire Department effectively managed to resolve the issue, giving an all-clear. Consequently, the students were allowed to leave the school.
