Join the Fight Against Huntington’s Disease in Irmo!
Irmo, SC – Are you ready to make a difference? Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 6th, because the South Carolina Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) is hosting the Team Hope Walk—an event that’s all about coming together for a great cause! This year, the walk will be held at the beautiful Community Park of Irmo, located at 7507 Eastview Drive. With registration kicking off at 1:00 PM and the actual walk starting at 2:00 PM, it’s the perfect opportunity for families, friends, and community members to rally for an important mission.
What’s the Team Hope Walk All About?
The Team Hope Walk is the largest grassroots fundraising event organized by HDSA, taking place in over 100 cities all across the United States. Since it started in 2007, the event has raised an impressive more than $28 million to support those affected by Huntington’s Disease (HD) and their families. That’s a big deal, and it goes to show just how powerful a community can be when we come together for a common cause!
But what exactly is Huntington’s Disease? It’s a devastating, inherited condition that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. Currently, there is no cure, but events like the Team Hope Walk are vital in raising awareness and funding for research and supportive care.
How You Can Get Involved
Getting involved is easy! You can join a team, create your own, or simply show up for the day to support those who are walking. If you’re thinking of participating, it’s a great opportunity to connect with others who share your passion for making a positive impact. Plus, it’s a fantastic chance to enjoy some fresh air and beautiful surroundings!
Feeling generous? All proceeds from the walk will go directly to HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of those affected by HD. Last year, thousands of families, coworkers, neighbors, and community members walked together, raising awareness and fostering connections. Just think about the power of community spirit!
