Festive Fun Awaits as West Columbia Prepares for Holiday Parade of Lights This Weekend

Get Ready for a Festive Weekend in West Columbia!

West Columbia – the holiday season is officially here, and you know what that means! It’s time for some festive fun in our fair city! This weekend promises to be a delightful adventure as the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce hosts the much-anticipated Holiday Parade of Lights. Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 16 because you won’t want to miss out on the excitement that will unfold from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.!

A Winter Wonderland Awaits

First things first, let’s talk about the amazing events lined up for this weekend. You can kick off your day at the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber Office located at 1006 12th St., which will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Families can gear up for a whole afternoon brimming with live music, activities, and plenty of family-friendly fun! There’s something for everyone, whether you’re young or just young at heart.

But wait, there’s more! To add to the convenience and cheer, visitors can hop on the Holiday Parade Day Shuttle that runs throughout the day. This handy little shuttle makes stops at various local shops, restaurants, and businesses, making it super easy to shop til you drop, grab a bite to eat, and just steal a little bit of time for leisure. It’s all about supporting our local gems while enjoying the festive atmosphere!

The Glow of the Parade

As the day rolls on, get ready for the grand highlight of the event: the Holiday Parade of Lights! Last year, an impressive crowd of over 24,000 people turned out to witness an electrifying display of twinkling lights, vibrant floats, and festive vehicles. The parade kicks off at 5:30 p.m., so be sure to grab your warmest jacket and join in the fun! It’s sure to be a night filled with holiday magic that lights up our beloved city.

A Special Grand Marshal

This year’s parade is especially poignant as it features Lexington County Council Lady Debbie Summers as the esteemed Grand Marshal. After twenty years of dedicated service to the community, she is set to retire, making her the perfect choice to lead us in kicking off the holiday festivities. Let’s celebrate her legacy while soaking up the cheerful spirit around us!

What to Expect

Expect to see a dazzling array of floats sparkling with lights, festive music echoing in the air, and neighbors coming together to celebrate the joys of the season. Whether you’re sipping on hot cocoa, waving at your favorite floats, or dancing to the holiday tunes, this parade will be the heart of our celebration – letting us all pause, reflect, and share joy with one another.

So gather your family and friends, don your festive gear, and prepare for a day filled with laughter, cheer, and community spirit in West Columbia! Let’s make this holiday season memorable by supporting our local businesses and embracing the joys around us. Who knows, you might just meet Santa himself while enjoying all the festivities!

Don’t forget, the skies may be mostly cloudy throughout the day with temperatures reaching a high of about 57°F. So, bundle up and bring your best smiles! We can’t wait to see you as we jingle our way through this holiday season!
