West Columbia, SC – Fall is in the air, and you know what that means! Halloween is just around the corner, and our local high schools are getting ready to host some fantastic family-friendly events that are sure to be a treat for everyone. Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss out on the spooky fun planned at Brookland-Cayce High School and Airport High School!
First up is Brookland-Cayce High School’s annual Trunk or Treat event, happening on Tuesday, October 22, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This bewitching evening will take place on the school campus at 1300 State St., Cayce. Last year’s event brought in nearly 1,200 attendees, all enjoying a delightful evening filled with candy, costumes, and community spirit. Costumes are not just welcomed; they are encouraged! So, whether you’re dressing up as a witch, superhero, or a cuddly creature, come ready to show off your spookiest attire!
But wait, there’s more! If you can’t make it to Brookland-Cayce, don’t worry. Airport High School has its own hauntingly good event lined up! The Trick or Treat Lane will take place on Monday, October 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. over at 1315 Boston Ave., West Columbia. Last year, this event attracted over 1,300 excited ghouls and goblins, all eager to fill their bags with sugary delights and enjoy the festivities.
What makes these events extra special is the incredible support from student organizations, faculty, staff, and local volunteers. They all come together to create a fun and safe environment for families in the community. Plus, we can’t forget to mention that admission to both festivities is completely free! That’s right – no tickets, no fees, just a whole lot of Halloween spirit! What could be better?
Parents, guardians, and loved ones are encouraged to bring their little ones out for a night of excitement and community bonding. With a variety of activities planned at each venue—from candy stations to costume contests—there’s something to entertain kids and adults alike. As the community continues to grow, it’s events like these that help to strengthen our connections and create cherished memories.
These Halloween events have become a cherished tradition in West Columbia, bringing together families from surrounding areas, including Springdale, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, and beyond. After the challenges of recent years, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of coming together to celebrate the magic of Halloween.
So, whether you’re a West Columbia resident or hail from nearby towns like Gaston, Swansea, or Pelion, make sure to head over to these events with your family! It’s the perfect opportunity to have some fun, enjoy the seasonal spirit, and connect with neighbors. Remember, the only thing scarier than missing out is running out of candy!
We can’t wait to see you all decked out in your best costumes, and remember, it’s all about community, creativity, and camaraderie. Hope to see you there!
