Columbia is about to get a tasty new addition to its food scene! Get ready for Guy’s Hotdogs, a food truck that’s bringing the beloved Chicago-style hot dog to the Lexington-Columbia area. The mastermind behind this delicious venture is none other than Anthony Guy, who has dreamt of opening his own food truck since his college days.
Having moved from the bustling streets of Chicago to the charming neighborhoods of Columbia two years ago, Anthony realized there was a hot dog-shaped hole in the local culinary landscape. “I was just looking for a good hot dog,” he shared. After searching high and low and not finding what he was craving, he took matters into his own hands and decided to get rolling with his own food truck.
Since July, it has been a whirlwind for Guy as he navigated the ins and outs of turning his dream into reality. From obtaining operational permits to hunting down authentic Vienna beef hot dogs, he’s been hard at work. Excitingly, Guy has announced that he’s just about a week away from the grand opening of Guy’s Hotdogs!
For those following along, Guy’s team has been actively posting updates on their social media channels. A recent Facebook post shared a snapshot of their A-graded inspection from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, proving they are ready to serve up some mouthwatering hot dogs: “I am hoping to open up in the next week or two, and I am still looking for places to set up at in the Lexington and Columbia area,” the post stated.
They’re also looking to their growing fanbase for help. “Please reach out if you know of any spots hosting food trucks!” the post urged.
When it comes to the menu, simplicity is key. The star of the show is, of course, the Chicago hot dog, which consists of a poppyseed bun, a plump Vienna beef sausage, and a medley of toppings including tomatoes, onions, relish, sport peppers, celery salt, and a pickle spear. It’s not just delicious; it’s a photo-friendly masterpiece that’s sure to make your taste buds do a happy dance!
If you’re not in the mood for the signature dog, don’t worry! Guy’s Hotdogs will also serve a plain dog and a chili dog, both prepared with the same care and attention to detail. And to top it all off, they’ll offer sides of chips and bottled soft drinks to complete your meal.
As Guy’s Hotdogs gears up to hit the streets, Anthony encourages anyone with location tips or questions about the classic Chicago dog to reach out. He’s keen to connect with the community and make sure that everyone can enjoy a taste of his favorite Chicago fare.
With clear skies predicted and daytime highs hitting around 68°F, it’s the perfect time to launch a food truck that’s bound to be a hit! So mark your calendars and get ready to experience Chicago’s famous hot dog culture right in Columbia. Follow Guy’s Hotdogs on social media to stay in the loop about their official opening day and location details. Don’t miss out on your new favorite hot dog spot!
