This isn’t just any race; it’s an epic nine-day journey covering 2,300 miles and 120 jaw-dropping vintage vehicles!

Starting on June 21, 2025, in St. Paul, Minnesota, this thrilling rally will wind its way through beautiful towns and landscapes, ultimately making its finish line at Moore Park (formerly known as Irmo Community Park) in our very own Irmo. This means you get a front-row seat to witness automotive history as it rolls into our town!
Imagine classic cars from around the world—think pre-1974 models like a 1912 Haynes or a 1918 American LaFrance—zooming through the streets. This is a fantastic opportunity to not just see these stellar machines but also meet the passionate drivers and navigators behind the wheels. Trust us, it’s not just a race; it’s a big family affair!
A Festive Atmosphere Awaits!
“When the Great Race pulls into a town, it transforms into a festival,” says Jeff Stumb, the Great Race Director. Last year, over 250,000 people turned out to enjoy the excitement, and we expect no less this time around! With around 500 people joining the race entourage, including participants from Japan, England, Australia, and Canada, we’re anticipating a lively atmosphere filled with energy and enthusiasm!
And guess what? Everything is completely free to attend! That means families can come out, bring the kiddos along, and even let them hop into some of these magnificent machines—talk about a photo op!
The Thrill of the Competition
As for the race itself? It’s not just about speed; it’s about strategy and precision. Competitors will receive daily instructions to navigate secret checkpoints, and just like in golf, the goal is to achieve the lowest score! With a total prize pool of $160,000, including a whopping $50,000 for the overall winner, you can bet there will be plenty of nail-biting moments!
