COLUMBIA, S.C. — Mark your calendars, folks! The Governor’s Mansion in Columbia is opening its doors for a delightful holiday celebration that you won’t want to miss. On December 9th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, South Carolina’s first family, Governor Henry McMaster and First Lady Peggy McMaster, will be hosting a magical Christmas open house.
As you step into the beautifully decorated mansion, you’ll be greeted by the soothing sounds of holiday music performed by talented local artists, including singers Trudy Wilson and Rhoda Paschal, along with the enchanting melodies of harpist Cayli Boyle. It’s the perfect opportunity to gather with friends and family, soak in the holiday atmosphere, and enjoy some light refreshments while you mingle.
What’s a holiday gathering without the big guy in red? Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be making a special appearance to spread cheer and chat with young ones (and the young at heart!). It’s definitely a photo-op waiting to happen, so be sure to bring your cameras!
The Governor’s Mansion is set to be a Christmas wonderland. The Columbia Garden Club has worked its magic in sprucing up the residence with stunning decorations that include charming Christmas trees sourced from Penland Christmas Tree Farm in York. You can also find beautiful poinsettias, courtesy of the Gilbert High School Future Farmers of America, adding a vibrant touch to the festive flair.
For those who love a good gingerbread creation, prepare to be wowed! A gingerbread house replicating Charleston’s iconic Pineapple Fountain will be on display, showcasing not just creativity but also the spirit of the season. And don’t forget to admire the festive wreaths crafted by the Horticulture Division of the South Carolina Department of Corrections—they’re sure to add to the holiday spirit.
In the spirit of giving, attendees are encouraged to bring donations for local furry friends. Guests are welcome to contribute pet food, litter, or toys for Pawmetto Lifeline, a Columbia-based animal rescue organization dedicated to helping pets in need. Your generosity can truly make a difference in the lives of animals in the community!
This festive open house is free and open to the public, making it an excellent outing for families looking to embrace the holiday season. Whether you’re enjoying the festive tunes, taking in the stunning decorations, or simply soaking in the spirit of goodwill, this celebration promises to be a joyful experience for all who attend.
So, gather your loved ones and come share in the holiday cheer next week at the Governor’s Mansion. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season with the community and enjoy a delightful evening filled with music, laughter, and holiday magic!
