Hello, Columbia! As we slide right into turkey leftovers and festive shopping, we’ve got some good news that might just brighten your day – free parking downtown! Yes, you heard that right! Get ready to enjoy a little extra freedom while you explore the best that our city has to offer this Thanksgiving love fest.
However, keep in mind that there are a couple of exceptions. In Five Points, the usual timed parking will still be enforced on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. But don’t worry; with meter-free days around the corner, you just may feel like a kid again not having to count your coins!
Heads up for anyone planning a night out! The gates at the Lincoln, Park, Lady, and Sumter Street parking decks will be raised at 5 p.m. on Wednesday to allow for free parking on Wednesday night and all through Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. That’s right… get your party shoes on and dance the night away without worrying about that pesky meter! Just keep in mind that after 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, those gates will come down, and regular operations will kick back in.
Oh, and if you’re in Five Points, don’t miss out on the 221 Devine Street parking facility that’s also offering free parking all day Friday and Saturday. It’s a perfect spot if you’re heading for some weekend fun!
So grab your friends, hop in the car, and enjoy our beautiful city without the worry of parking fees. Happy Thanksgiving, Columbia – let’s shop, eat, and be merry!
