Fire Outbreak at Richland One Career and Technology Center

In Forest Acres, South Carolina, a fire erupted at the Samuel A. Heyward Career and Technology Center late Thursday night, according to the Forest Acres Police Department (FAPD). The Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD), together with the FAPD, were called to the scene around 9:45 p.m. The ongoing investigation into the genesis of the fire is underway, with initial reports indicating it is not deemed suspicious.

Fire Emergency Intervention

The Heyward Center is a structure under the stewardship of the Richland County School District One, dedicated to offering various trade-specific classes to high school students. Programs include study in areas such as culinary arts and electronics. As per the report, the turnout from the CRFD promptly worked to suppress the fire predominantly emanating from the building’s roof, which was causing the diffusion of smoke throughout the center.

The fire was efficiently quelled, preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of emergency personnel. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
