From pumpkin patches to haunted houses, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in our wonderful Soda City. Whether you’re a lover of all things cozy, like flannel shirts and hot apple cider, or looking to get your scare on, it’s time to dive into fall festivities!

Mark Your Calendars!

The month of September kicked off an exciting lineup of events. The 37th Annual Greek Festival at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church from September 19-22 invites you to indulge in mouth-watering Greek cuisine, delightful music, and a vibrant atmosphere – all for free! Who can resist that?

Then, on September 21, you can take part in Jubilee: Festival of Black History & Culture at the Mann-Simons Site. This all-day event features live entertainment from headliner Sunshine Anderson, artist demonstrations, and even a few historic stories to tell! Best of all, it’s entirely free.

If you love reading, don’t miss the Fall Literary Festival running from September 25 through October 23 at Capstone Hall and All Good Books. Meet acclaimed authors like Jesmyn Ward and Walter Mosley during readings and signings – all totally free of charge!

Food, Fun, and Family Activities

How about some good old-fashioned food fun? The Palmetto Peanut Boil on September 28 will showcase some of South Carolina’s best cooking! Join in on the fun from noon until 6 p.m. on Devine Street and be part of a competition tasting amazing dishes and voting for your favorites.

Want more? The Harvest Festival at The FARM 1780 on the same day offers family-friendly activities like pumpkin picking, along with local food vendors to satisfy your cravings.

Let’s not forget the South Carolina State Fair, running from October 9-20! Crammed with rides, games, delicious foods, and entertainment, there’s something enjoyable for all ages throughout its adventurous 12 days.

For the Ghouls and Goblins

As we inch closer to Halloween, we must highlight our local haunted houses! Deceased Farm welcomes you to its creepy attractions from September 13 to November 2. Get ready to explore haunted buildings and eerie cornfields if you dare! Another thrilling option is The Dark Castle, running from September 27 to November 2, featuring zombies, trails, and haunted mazes.

More Festive Highlights

Amid our celebrations, there’s still time for local music and arts! On October 18-19, the Famously Hot South Carolina Pride Festival lights up Main Street with festivities and a live parade, featuring renowned artists.

If you’re a blues fan, don’t miss the 2nd Annual Capital City Blues Festival on October 19 at The Township Auditorium, highlighting celebrated artists who are sure to get you moving!

Family-Focused Events

On the family-friendly side, the Monster Mash Family Party on October 11 is a spook-tacular treat with dinner and dancing, alongside everyone’s favorite pumpkin carving. Then, from October 18-30, Riverbanks Zoo transforms for Boo at the Zoo! Embrace the fall spirit as you engage in trick-or-treating at various exhibits.

For a whimsical twist, don’t miss Halloween at Hogwarts on October 27, where attendees can relish classical favorites intertwined with enchanting music from the Harry Potter films. Magic awaits at this delightful celebration!
