Fall Festivals Are Here in South Carolina!

As the air turns crisp and the days get shorter, South Carolina is ready to welcome fall festival season with open arms! With autumn officially kicking off on September 22, it’s time to grab your family and friends and get ready to celebrate everything from delicious food to unique local traditions. Whether you’re a fan of chili cook-offs, outdoor music, or a quirky homage to Bigfoot, there’s a festival for everyone this season.

1. Irmo Okra Strut

First up is the Irmo Okra Strut, a Southern classic that celebrates the lowly little green vegetable like no other. This year marks its remarkable 50th anniversary! Expect a full day filled with over 100 arts and crafts exhibitors, a dedicated kid’s play area, okra-eating contests, and live music. Nothing says fall like celebrating a not-so-ordinary vegetable, right?

2. International Chili Cook-Off

Next, make your way to Myrtle Beach for what is essentially a chili lover’s dream. The International Chili Society is hosting its prestigious championship event, where winners walk away with part of a whopping $75,000 prize purse! Sample delicious chilis at the People’s Choice Chili Competition while enjoying a family fun zone and a chill beer garden. Can someone say ‘heaven on a plate’?

3. Palmetto Peanut Boil

Don’t miss out on the Palmetto Peanut Boil, now in its 17th year, which has blossomed from a backyard event to a massive annual outdoor celebration. Here, you can taste some of the best peanut recipes South Carolina has to offer while enjoying live music and entertainment. Plus, all proceeds from food and drink sales benefit local animals in need!

4. Bike Week Fall Rally

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Bike Week Fall Rally, and it’s expected to be bigger than ever! Riders, events, and plenty of vendors will fill the Grand Strand area, providing thrilling experiences for motorcycle enthusiasts and casual spectators alike. Whether you’re a hardcore biker or just a curious visitor, this rally is sure to please.

5. South Carolina State Fair

The South Carolina State Fair is possibly the largest and most eclectic festival of them all. Over 12 days, you’ll find rides, games, exhibits, and a variety of performances, from comedy and local bands to performances by schools. The food scene is equally exciting, offering new tasty treats that will tickle your taste buds!

6. South Carolina Bigfoot Festival

For all the crypto-enthusiasts out there, the South Carolina Bigfoot Festival is a fun and quirky way to spend your day! Now in its fifth year, this festival features food and craft vendors, live music, and a series of intriguing talks from Bigfoot experts. Curious about the crypto legends? You won’t want to miss this one!

7. Renaissance Festival

Step back in time with a visit to the Renaissance Festival, where knights and fair maidens come alive! Experience a fairy forest, medieval combat, artisan villagers, and dazzling shows. Plus, your attendance supports a local nonprofit dedicated to helping children in need. It’s a win-win!

8. Rockabillaque

Get ready for the 11th annual Rockabillaque, a fun-filled block party jam-packed with classic cars, vintage bikes, live music, and more! There’s something for everyone—from a pin-up girl fashion contest to a tattoo contest and, of course, plenty of delicious BBQ to satisfy your cravings.

9. Steeplechase Championship

End the racing season on a high note with the annual Steeplechase Championship. Watch majestic horses race on lush turf while leaping over fences. Not only will it be an exciting event, but it can also be a unique way to spend a day with friends or family!
