Exciting Changes in Lexington: Meet the New Leader at The Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment
It’s an exciting time in Lexington as the community welcomes a new executive director of The Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment! Say hello to Jessica Hudson, a passionate advocate for individuals with autism and a certified expert in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). With over 16 years of experience under her belt, Jessica is stepping into her new role with a lot of enthusiasm and a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of those in need.
Who is Jessica Hudson?
Jessica isn’t just any new director; she’s a hometown hero! Raised right here in Lexington, she’s made quite a name for herself in the field of ABA. With her impressive background, including her previous role as the Director of Clinical Operations for the Autism Center of Excellence in the Raleigh-Durham area, she’s not only skilled but genuinely understands the importance of compassionate care. She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a North Carolina Licensed Behavior Analyst. Jessica’s journey through various roles, including Clinical Director at BlueSprig Pediatrics in Greenville and Co-Director of Staff Development at Carolina Behavioral Specialists, shows her diverse skills and dedication.
What’s New at The Unumb Center?
The Unumb Center has been making waves since its founding in 2010, starting with a single program, the Autism Academy of South Carolina. Jessica’s appointment comes at a crucial time as the center aims to expand its mission to serve individuals throughout all life stages, especially focusing on adults who require long-term care.
This year, the center took a monumental step by purchasing a stunning 10-acre property in Lexington, aptly named Unumb Place. This new facility is set to become a beacon of support, housing adult programs and providing much-needed residential services through six on-site homes. The community is buzzing with anticipation, as renovations are underway to welcome the very first residents in the spring of 2025. Isn’t that amazing?
A Vision for the Future
Jessica Hudson is clearly thrilled about stepping into this role, reflecting on the significance of Unumb Place, saying: “This represents a significant milestone for our organization. We’re creating a community where individuals with autism can thrive throughout their lives, supported by tailored programs and compassionate care.” With her at the helm, there is a palpable sense of optimism and growth on the horizon.
