Exciting Job Opportunities Await in South Carolina with New Explore SC@Work Initiative

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Exciting Job Opportunities Await in South Carolina!

If you’re on the lookout for work in the beautiful state of South Carolina, you’re in for a treat! The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce has introduced a fantastic initiative that might just be your golden ticket to landing that dream job. Launched in July 2024, the Explore SC@Work program is here to help you navigate the sometimes tricky job market.

What is Explore SC@Work?

So, what exactly is Explore SC@Work? Well, it’s a handy resource packed with information about various jobs available throughout the state. Job seekers can discover what each job entails, the credentials needed, and, importantly, what kind of pay to expect. Sounds appealing, right?

Meeting the Man in Charge

The Executive Director of the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, William Floyd, is passionate about getting the word out. He explained, “We want to make sure parents, students, and educators know about the wonderful opportunities throughout the state.” Whether you’re up in the Upstate or chilling down at the coast, there are employers eager to connect with you. As Floyd puts it, “There are employers that are ready, willing, and able to hire young people and others entering the workforce.”

Lots of Jobs, Thanks to Explore SC@Work

According to Floyd, South Carolina is bursting with thousands of unfilled job opportunities. The main goal of Explore SC@Work is straightforward — to help *everyone avoid unemployment.*

Collaborating with Local Companies

But how does this initiative work? Explore SC@Work collaborates with several companies to offer state residents valuable insight into job openings and emerging companies. One such example is Gregory Electric Company, which is eager to grow its workforce.

Bob Livingston, the president of Gregory Electric, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership. “We just began working with the program and are eager to expand our workforce,” he said. The company has open positions for linemen, apprentices, and helpers. “You give me five linemen and five apprentices, I’ll take them tomorrow!”

No Experience? No Problem!

If you’re worried about your lack of experience, fear not! Livingston reassured hopeful applicants that they’re open to hiring individuals with little or no prior experience. “For the lineman program, you do not need a degree. We would prefer a high school diploma, but we’ll take a GED or someone that has shown motivation,” he explained. The best part? They’re ready and willing to teach you the trade!

Feeling Inspired?

This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking to dive into the job market or maybe even switch careers. Whether you’re a fresh graduate or a seasoned individual wanting to try something new, Explore SC@Work can provide the information and motivation you need to land that job!

In summary, if you’re in South Carolina and looking for work, keep an eye out for the wonderful initiatives and support available to you. With programs like Explore SC@Work paving the way for job seekers, a rewarding career may just be around the corner! So why wait? Start exploring your opportunities today!
