Exciting New Indoor Pickleball Facility Set to Open in Columbia by January 2025

Exciting News for Columbia: A New Pickleball Paradise is Coming!

Hey there, Columbia! If you’re a fan of fun and friendly competition, then you’re in for a treat. Pickleball, a game that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, is making waves, and it’s about to get even bigger in your city with the opening of a brand-new indoor pickleball facility called The Picklr.

A Growing Trend in Pickleball

Now, pickleball isn’t a brand-new fad; it has been around since the 1960s! However, in recent years, it has seen a surge in popularity and is quickly becoming one of the most loved sports across the nation. Fans and players from all walks of life are embracing this exciting game, and Columbia is no exception. As the sport grows, the demand for quality facilities is increasing. Enter The Picklr, set to be the world’s largest indoor pickleball franchise.

What To Expect from The Picklr

The folks behind The Picklr are aiming to bring a unique and elevated experience to pickleball lovers in Columbia. While they haven’t set a specific grand opening date yet, they’re shooting for January 2025. With their first South Carolina location here in Columbia, they are just getting started. They have plans to open multiple clubs across the Carolinas and already own rights to 60 units in the southeastern U.S., aiming to grow to 90-100 units in total!

Setting a New Standard

But what makes The Picklr stand out? According to co-founder Jay Satori, they describe themselves as being “like the Apple of pickleball.” This isn’t just about playing; it’s about the overall experience. They’ve put significant thought into creating an ideal playing atmosphere. Imagine playing in a space designed with meticulous details—everything from sound control to the color scheme has been planned out.

The design features an intriguing ‘black box interior’ with all black walls and ceilings. Why black, you might ask? This high-contrast environment allows players to better see the bright-colored pickleball as they dash about the court! Jay mentions that they are waiting on a patent for their innovative ‘sound cloud’ system. This unique feature works as a flexible, fabric board with built-in sound absorption technology, reducing noise by 35-40 percent, which makes for a much more pleasant playing experience.

Facilities and Membership Options

When it comes to facilities, the Columbia Picklr location is set to feature 12 to 13 courts, ensuring plenty of space for fun and competition. And that’s not all! There will also be a pro shop, and the club will host Picklr leagues and tournaments throughout the year. Future members will be thrilled to hear that they can make virtual reservations through the Picklr app, making it super easy to plan a game!

Now, let’s talk about memberships. The Picklr offers several levels to fit your pickleball lifestyle:

  • Social Membership: $89/month – Enjoy unlimited open play and participate in up to 3 tournaments per month.
  • Regular Membership: $139/month – This includes all the benefits of a social membership, plus Picklr leagues, tournament fees, free paddle demos, four guest passes/month, and four clinics/month.
  • Pro Membership: $169/month – All regular membership benefits, with added Wingfield AI access and more court reservation times!
